Voltiges

Pièces pour Piano

Tristan Pfaff (pianiste)

“Voltiges” is more than a simple CD gathering a few pieces for piano. “Voltiges” is the bold expression of an incandescent musical power. “Voltiges” is the artist at the height of his art. “Voltiges” is a culmination. “Voltiges” is the latest recording of the pianist Tristan Pfaff and his unparalleled program goes well beyond virtuosity. “Danse du sabre” by Khatchaturian/Cziffra, Étude transcendante “Lezghinka”” by Liapounov, “Casse-Noisette. Andante maestoso”by Tchaikovski/Pletnev, “Polka italienne” by Rachmaninov/Gryaznov, “Danse macabre” by Saint-Saëns, “Valse triste” by Vecsey/Cziffra, “Méphisto valse » by Liszt, and to conclude, “Printemps” by Père Komitas/Andriasyan. “This magic impression of facility that results from the superior mastery of the keyboard,” that so justly underlines the pianist Vittorio Forte to describe virtuosity, is at the heart of what Tristan Pfaff proposes. Playing on the piano Opus 102 by Stephen Paulello, the musician fully exploits the power of his instrument, thereby becoming the very essence of the music. “Voltiges” is most assuredly… fascinating.
